Helen Nicholson Amar – Early Childhood Educator and Advocate
Helen Nicholson Amar is a passionate and dedicated Early Childhood Educator with over 28 years of experience in both private and public educational settings. She was born in Marianna, Arkansas, on February 21, 1960, as one of nine children. Raised in a close-knit, hardworking family, Helen learned the values of responsibility, resilience, and determination from an early age.
Helen’s early life was shaped by her family’s strong work ethic. Her father, a self-employed farmer, and her stay-at-home mother instilled in her the importance of education and perseverance. After the passing of her father when she was just eight years old, Helen’s mother courageously managed the household and continued to provide for the family by working the fields and caring for her nine children.
Inspired by her mother’s strength and guidance, Helen eventually pursued a B.S. degree in education. Though she once aspired to be an airline stewardess or hairdresser, her mother saw her true calling early on — working with children — a vision Helen fully embraced in her adult life.
Helen believes strongly in teaching and modeling expectations through play-based learning. Her educational philosophy centers on nurturing the whole child by observing and supporting their emotional, physical, and cognitive development. She emphasizes the importance of family, health, and individualized support, including for children with special needs.
Helen is currently pursuing her goal to become a Master Pre-K Educator and a professional CDA specialist, with aspirations to open her own Child Care Center within the next five years. She is committed to sharing her extensive knowledge and leadership skills to train others in the field of early childhood education.
Driven by her passion to inspire and motivate, Helen continues to be a guiding light for children and families, helping them reach their full potential with compassion, dedication, and an unwavering belief in the power of education.
